They say a week is a long time in politics and it’s the same at the parish council. And things were going so well.
Last week I sent my apologies to the Clerk as I decided not to attend the Extraordinary Council meeting on 19 May. I think this is the first meeting of the Council I have not attended since I became a councillor. I have also attended every meeting of the Committees and working groups of which I was a member.
Despite all the difficulties last year – being shouted at, ignored and refused information - I kept on going.
But last week I couldn’t face it. I told the Clerk and fellow councillors that I would find the meeting stressful and my husband had concerns about my mental health. I said I did not feel that the Council was supportive.
And what happened? Well, nothing.
Which rather supports my husband’s concerns.
I’m taking a break and will see what happens.
